Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles, California, the youngest daughter of producer, media mogul and musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada Jones is her older sibling. There are five half-siblings through other relationships with her father. Her father is African American and her mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant emigrants of Russia and Latvia). Rashida was educated in Reform Judaism. Her birthplace was Bel Air, Los Angeles. Jones declared that her mixed race heritage was not recognized by the general public until the 1970s. Jones began her professional acting debut in The Last Don in 1997 the mini-series based on Mario Puzo. Also in 1997, Rashida graduated from Harvard University. Her maternal grandfather is from New York and her maternal grandmother, who is of Eastern European Jewish descent, was born in Dublin, Ireland.
