Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer who was of Irish descent. The fiery, passionate roles she played in a range of American films were loved by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beauty and elegance were well-loved. Also, she was known as the 'Queen Of Technicolor and was a household name in Hollywood. Her roles onscreen reflect her strong, brave spirit. She fought for respect and survival within a male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and was not willing to sacrifice her image or respect to get the roles she earned on merit. She stood up against injustices and unfair treatment of female actors throughout her film career. She also gained lots of supporters. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. It is an honest and open description of her life, including the struggles she faced while climbing the ladder to success. She was an adventurous woman who wasn't afraid to try herself at her own tricks. She appeared in over 60 films and was a pillar of international fame. Following her departure from Parra and remarried in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier, former chief pilot, and a pioneer of transatlantic aviationto mention just a few of her accomplishments. In the early years of their union, O'Hara decided to finally retire. Blair was tragically killed in an airplane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s happiness. She was also diagnosed with uterine cancer in the same year, and had an immediate surgery. She eventually recovered. After that, her health was declining and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks, memory loss in the short term and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara aged 95, peacefully passed away in Boise on October 24, 2015.
