Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi, a daughter of Padma Parvati Lakshmi, was born in Chennai, India, on September 1st 1970. Lakshmi lost her parents when she was just two years old. Her mother emigrated to the United States to escape the stigma of divorce in India. Lakshmi was a resident for two years with her grandparents in Chennai, before she came to the United States. The couple divorced, and she has two younger siblings. Lakshmi, who shares her last name with the Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth, grew up first in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. She would return to India for a short period of time every year to visit her relatives. Padma Lakshmi became interested in acting in 1999. Her first film part was in Figlio di Sandokan (an Italian pirate film). Next, she appeared in "Caraibi", a drama about 17th Century pirates. Also, she hosted Italy's top-rated TV show 'Domenica In. In 2001, she played an amusing supporting role as a disco singer in 'Glitter', which was an American film. Padma has a daughter with Adam Dell (a venture capitalist). Krishna was born on February 20, 2010. She also dated Teddy Forstmann (ex-chairman, CEO of IMG). Lakshmi is dating American venture capitalist Adam Dell and the pair share a daughter, Krishna. Lakshmi eventually revealed the identity of her father to her daughter however she kept it under wraps at first. The girl said to her daughter, "Everything is better when she's there."
